Equipment Operator/ Mechanic The Town of Vernon is accepting applications for an Equipment Operator/Mechanic. This position requires knowledge and operation of a variety of construction equipment including: pick-up truck, two-ton truck, dump truck, snow plow, sander, salt truck, loader, grader, backhoe, chainsaw, weed wacker, road rake and jack hammer. Other miscellaneous labor duties will be performed when not operating equipment include but are not limited to: installation or cleaning of culverts, clearing ditches, street signs, brush cutting, pot hole patching, equipment maintenance. Duties will be assigned by the Road Commissioner. A current Class B CDL or higher is required. Applicants must be able to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test as well as random drug and alcohol testing if hired. The ability to work a flexible schedule, holidays, weekends as necessary due to inclement weather as well as other factors, and a willingness to abide by safety rules and regulations are required.
